Cocktail Friday (11) (One-A-Day 77/365)

Best day of the week bar none if you ask me! Unless of course your working all weekend. Which I am. Ah crap. Time to get drunk then.

I was stuck with what to make tonight so I turned to my trusty books and started looking. Finding nothing suitable in the vodka section I started with the rum and came across this little gem of a drink.

Berlin Blonde:

This is quite a strong drink comprising 2 parts spirits to 1 part mixer. So what’s in it I hear you ask? Lots of alcohol! Hooray! No really:

  • 25ml Dark Rum
  • 25ml Cointreau
  • 25ml Double Cream
  • Ground Cinnamon to garnish

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and go nuts shaking that thing. Strain into a Martini glass and enjoy – don’t forget the garnish though ;)

Sounds like a bit of an odd mix really since dark rums don’t usually mix with others very well at all. However in this instance I was blown away by the flavour and of course the creaminess of the drink. Which is hardly suprising with double cream but hey :D

The only thing that I think disappointed me with this drink was the garnish (which I usually don’t bother with) which on second thoughts was quite an odd taste. I think next time I might try cocoa powder and see if I prefer that instead….any excuse eh? Pretty pictures below!
