At the time of writing this I’m absolutely knackered but not really sure why…..might be something to do with getting up too earlier for some mouth torture before work though. That or going to bed too late in the first place….NAH! 
Anyway to cut the intro waffle short I had to swap my shift at work today to attend the dentist at 9am this morning. I got told off like normal for not brushing enough/in the right places but then we got to the fun stuff regarding pain in my upper left 7….most folk will probably guess where this is going.
I’m getting quite bad pain when drinking cold drinks (mostly all I drink) and unpredictably when biting on harder foodstuffs. No real logic to it and also hugely irritating when I forget and receive that lovely sharp reminder that something isn’t right. First some pressure was applied to the area in question with no problems and the fillings in the teeth looked intact.
Next there was a look back at the most recent set of X-Rays to see if anything was wrong there – nothing obvious until the last picture popped up on screen. The tiniest little bit of white at the top of the picture that had the shape of a tooth to it was reckoned to be an un-erupted wisdom tooth!
That left me with 3 possible reasons:
- Not brushing enough
- Nerve in UL7 is dying out and being a bugger on the way
- Wisdom tooth is doing it’s thing and pushing on UL7/UL7′s nerve
The first is plausible as I’m terrible at getting the teeth at the back of my mouth. The second I don’t really know enough about to comment but option 3 just scares the crap out of me!
Still if it really is the wisdom tooth option then at least I’ll be following in my dad’s footsteps as he had his done at 30 years old. I’m back there on Friday to have more x-rays done to confirm what’s going on in there.
