It’s been a good day for a Friday this week and more importantly it’s the end of the month which means it’s time for shots!
Er no. Seems I was short of 1 of the 3 ingredients for the chosen drink so I’ll have another crack at it next week – watch this space as it looks super tasty and has quite a nice surprise in it.
In replacement I turned a few more pages to find a drink that I actually had the necessary bits for and got to work. This one is a tequila based drink so probably middle of the road for me in terms of actually enjoying the taste of the spirit behind the drink. However drinks that feature tequila also seem to chuck lots of lime in too which can make for quite a sharp drink.
The drink in question is call Mockingbird and has the following in it:
- 1.25 measures tequila
- 0.75 measure Creme de Menthe
- 1.25 measures lime juice
This gets served in a cocktail glass and of course is mixed in the boston shaker. Ice first and then all the ingredients go in as listed above. Shakey, shakey and strain that drink right into a chilled martini glass! It should be a bright green colour and smell quite minty despite the seemingly small amount of Creme de Menthe.
Hopefully it looks like this:
That’s all there really is to it. Very quick and simple to make and not too bad to drink. The tequila gives a sour taste which is balanced by the sweetness of the Creme de Menthe with a sharp finish courtesy of the lime. If I as to make it again I’d probably cut down the lime a little. Still good though.
Just because it’s Friday I’ll finish on a joke:
What is the President of Mexico’s favourite book? Tequila Mocking Bird!
