Flat Tyre!
Yep the title of the post says it all
Got home from work today and heard what sounded like a snake hissing. Strange I thought – can’t see any snakes. Little bit of poking around and I found the culprit. What looks like a screw to be buried deep into the outer edge of the right front tyre. Can’t be repaired so I have just had to splash out a whopping £123 for a new tyre.
Last thing I needed
Anyway a nice guy is coming to me to fit the tyre whilst I’m at work. See how it goes and I’ll update after I get home with a shiney new bit of rubber on.
Annoying as the cars only 7 months old but nevermind – nothing I can do about it now.
No picture as bluetooth and vista = retarded. Maybe a picture when I find my proper camera….
Oh joy the post is here!
Yes I realise I’m writing this past midnight and therefore technically on Friday but I don’t care.
Got a nice thick DL sized, windowed envelope today. Sadly it was just car insurance renewal documents from the least efficient insurers I’ve been with yet. Now since the bump I was talking about yesterday (well below…) occured I’ve had all my No-Claims Bonus wiped out.
Since the accident I have changed car to a VW Golf GT Sport (Not quite a GTi but with nicer wheels) which of course gave way to an inflated insurance premium. £750 to be precise. Ouch.
Anyway the renewal letter informed me I had earned 1 years NCB and accordingly a discount would be applied to the insurance cover I required. Sadly the buggers still want £702 of my hard earned monies.
Not desperatly impressive so I started phoning around a few insurers to see what prices I can get. Sadly the first 2 companies I contacted definately didn’t want my business offer quotes of £1500 and £1250 respectively.
Luckily there are a few insurers who clearly do want my money as both Elephant and Bell Direct can mysteriously get the price under £600 each. Interesting that Admiral, Bell Direct and Elephant have the same underwriters and are the same company……ho hum!
Still I have till the end of the month to choose who and hopefully bring the figure closer to the £500 mark that I’d prefer….
This time 1 year ago I was in a very bad mood. The picture below might indicate why:

It may not look like much but the door wouldn’t open at all. Not very impressive.
Today (well actually yesterday…) is 1 year since that happened. Guess what? Still disputing the damn claim – wondering if I’ll ever get my NCB back at this rate. Fingers crossed though as my insurers (who seem to be dragging their feet…) are dealing with it. Just not as fast as I would like unfortunately.
Apparently there is a chase date of the 19th on the last letter sent to the solictors so maybe some more news then?
